The filmmaker behind the inquiry is Tom Shadyac, one of Hollywood’s leading comedy directors. Shadyac recounts what happened to him after a cycling accident left him incapacitated. Though he ultimately recovered, he emerged with a new sense of purpose, determined to share his own awakening to his prior life of excess and greed, and to investigate how he as an individual, and we as a race, could improve the way we live and walk in the world.

Rather than return home, Tom decides to embark on the historical pilgrimage “The Way of St. James” to honor his son’s desire to finish the journey. What Tom doesn’t plan on is the profound impact this trip will have on him. Through unexpected and oftentimes amusing experiences along “The Way,” Tom discovers the difference between “the life we live and the life we choose.”
Directions
If you are Southbound on Hwy 101:
Take the last exit in Arroyo Grande, Fair Oaks Ave. Turn right onto Fair Oaks, then left at Valley Rd. Turn left at Los Berros Rd and travel about 1 mile and turn right on El Campo Rd., then turn right on Sevada Lane. Straight on Sevada Lane as it turns into Indian Hills Lane and then an immediate left onto Peaceful Point Lane. The house is on the right at the end of Peaceful Point Lane.
If you are Northbound on Hwy 101:
Before you come to Arroyo Grande, exit at Thompson/Los Berros Rd and left onto Los Berros. Go about 2 miles and turn left on El Campo Rd. then turn right on Sevada Lane. Straight on Sevada Lane as it turns into Indian Hills Lane and then an immediate left onto Peaceful Point Lane. The house is on the right at the end of Peaceful Point Lane.
